Château Lafite Rothschild was one of four wine-producing châteaux of Bordeaux originally awarded First Growth status in the 1855 Classification, which was based on the prices and wine quality at that time. Château Lafite Rothschild is known as for some of the world’s most expensive red wines. Occasionally exceptions are made, such as the 1961 vintage which was 100% Cabernet Sauvignon. The average price of wines from Lafite Rothschild costs $911 per 750 ml. Chinese demand is the largest factor affecting the increased prices for Château Lafite Rothschild wines.
